What to Expect from Therapy:
Therapy moves in stages as you develop your confidence and understanding. Each phase of your treatment has its own feel, pace, and logic, like seasons.
Core phases of therapy
Grounding – “Winter”
Establish the basics: trust in the process and the therapeutic relationship. Develop a sense that you can be vulnerable without fear of judgement or being told what to do.
Planning – “Spring”
Establish concrete goals and start to measure them. Understand where you’re stuck. Start developing tools and a mindset to get you through it. Start feeling hope.
Exploring – “Summer”
Once you have a taste of what works, experiment with what’s possible. Take risks. Learn, grow. Stumble at times, and get back up. It might even be fun!
SEASONS OF CHANGE
Integrating – “Fall”
Keep what worked before, leave what didn’t. Incorporate what you’ve learned as it goes from being a manual effort to second nature. Gear up for a brand new challenge.
